Britain is a beautiful fruit salad of people, rich with flavours and colours that reflect our origins. Where people have travelled from, how they arrived, and what they experienced is a rich part of the history of Britain and what makes the nation great. The Migration Museum is a celebration of the stories of the people that have helped shape Britain. It captures these stories in a unique and creative way. It is a joy to visit and a visit should be an essential part of our kids’ curriculum. My son who visited with me now has a better understanding of how his Grandma and Grandad travelled to the UK and helped to build the life that he experiences today.

Karen Blackett

Karen Blackett OBE is a proven business leader with a track record in creating vibrant cultures, energising teams and consistently delivering business growth and success.

She has served as the UK chief executive of Group M, the world’s largest advertising media company, as well as the UK country manager for WPP, the world’s largest marketing services group, and Chairwoman of MediaCom, the largest media agency in the UK. In June 2014, Karen received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours and in November 2018 Karen won the Inspirational Leader category at the Ethnicity Awards. Karen was appointed Race Equality Business Champion by the UK Prime Minister in 2018, and most recently as a director of the new Sussex Royal Foundation.
