We are hosting a one-off special Art Club event on Wednesday 15 November.
The purpose of Art Club is to create a space for people to come and explore art in a non-judgemental, relaxed and friendly environment, that is free from pressure to produce a prescribed piece of work with all the added pressure of comparison.
It is for people of all levels and abilities to simply explore, learn and connect with other people like you who enjoy art or want to learn more.
All you need to do is bring yourself, some art materials, have some fun, chill, connect with others and explore how art can bring so much to you and your work.
If you weren’t able to make it along to our recent boat-making workshops, this is also an opportunity for you to share your memories of sea journeys and create a lovely piece of art. We will provide you with materials and instructions, and encourage you to bring photocopies of documents or prints of photographs, maps or letters to personalise your boats. A selection of boats made by members of the public are being featured in our current exhibition, No Turning Back: Seven Migration Moments that Changed Britain.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
1.30 – 1.45 Introductions (in the Community Room on the ground floor)
1.45 – 2.15 Tour of our No Turning Back: Seven Migration Moments that Changed Britain exhibition
2.15 – 4.30 Open art time (in the Community Room on the ground floor)
So bring your crayons, pencils, paints or chalks and let’s do some art.
The Art Club is run by @Work Hubs each week as part of the Deep Work Project. Here’s an article with more information on Art Club.
