David Kynaston has been a professional historian since 1973. His four-volume history of the City of London, covering the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, appeared between 1994 and 2001. His ongoing series about post-war Britain, under the collective title Tales of a New Jerusalem, so far comprises Austerity Britain, Family Britain and Modernity Britain.
